Hoping all are enjoying this mini heat surge as Fall officially begins on the 23rd!
On the 20th of this month millions took to the streets, students walked out of classrooms and others took off work or were allowed to do so to participate in a “Climate Strike” around the world. It is a call for immediate action toward reversing the damage to the environment by choices those in power have made and continue to make. And that we in our own personal ways have perpetuated. The United Nations International Day of Peace theme for 2019 is “Climate Action for Peace”, as this is truly being recognized as an existential crisis particularly by the younger generations who will be the first to pay the price and which may ultimately lead to a point of no return for the human species.
Adults keep saying, “We owe it to young people to give them hope.” But I don’t want your hope. I don’t want you to be hopeful. I want you to panic. I want you to feel the fear I feel every day, and then I want you to act. I want you to act as you would in a crisis. I want you to act as if our house is on fire. Because it is.” Greta Thunberg is a 16 yr old is a Swedish climate activist (hear her whole UN speech here)
A complete disregard for the damage to those who are powerless and have no control over these decisions based in selfishness and greed has had permanent and wide ranging effects on the very things needed to take us into the future! We are intricately and intimately related to the earth through the trees, land, water, air, rocks, animals, insects and creatures of the water. The Ancient cultures and the Indigenous peoples have always known this because they feel it. And they who have held this way of loving, respectful interrelatedness, have been and are being attacked and killed even now. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jul/26/bolsonaro-amazon-tribes-indigenous-brazil-dictatorship . Lands and sacred sites are being destroyed for mining and other ventures profitable for the few. This is just one of many sources that constantly update on the many assaults to the environment, wildlife etc. https://www.ecowatch.com/emergency-trump-epa-pesticides-2638979880.html
Not surprising the Current Collective Consciousness theme has been one of ‘broken promises’ and ‘betrayal of trust’ on the part of parents who knowingly make choices that cause fear, hurt and pain to a child. In the more extreme cases the parent may feel superior by being able to use their power over the weak. In other instances they actually feed off the fear of the child, or lessen their own discomfort inside by blaming the child. Some parents place the huge burden of their emotional state on the shoulders of the child. Have you seen any instances of this on the national or global stage?
While the above seems to occur only in the most blatantly abusive instances, these choices are there in countless ways in even the most benign looking parent/child relationships. Parents generally do not truly tune in and ‘listen’ with the sensitivity and awareness of what a child is actually experiencing by picking up the myriad of clues and hints with their behavior, their ‘stories’, comments about seemingly unrelated or minor incidents. They take for granted that if the child can speak and understand the language, that an explanation or reasoning should suffice. Or simply follow the parenting of their parents with threats and bribes, instead of making the effort to figure out what is actually going on inside. Again can you extrapolate and see this on a societal level? Are we truly listening to the Earth? Are we picking up the clues from Nature of how hurtful and destructive our actions/choices are?
Children perceive and receive what is coming at them through their ‘feeling’ receptors. Their bodies, their emotions and their Energy Field take in experiences not only in a very different way, but their innate, instinctive, intuitive ‘knowing’ (which does not process through the mind) FEELS the ‘wrongness’ of what is occurring to them. They cannot articulate it, but their system knows it is not supposed to be this way. And the imprint eventually gets fixated into the body and Energy Field creating a distortion in who they are, their value and worthiness to exist!
This ‘knowing’ comes from an internal place and we all know when someone is doing something that isn’t ‘as it should be’. We each ‘know’ when we are not being kind, respectful, accepting or mindful! We are designed to actually feel it. But because of our experience as the recipient, our defense system shuts it off in a split second! For to feel our wrongness could lead down the trail to the ‘wrong’ done to us and the defense system’s job is to see that we are protected from re-experiencing that again. At all cost! The cost as an adult being the countless ways we numb ourselves, stay out of our bodies, escape or self soothe commonly through unhealthy or destructive means. But following the trail is following the map we each left ourselves to transform these aspects of human nature out of the species. Fall Special! “In human history there has been a continuous and growing impulse toward the regeneration and transformation of humanity…..Whatever we are going through is part of the planetary struggle to evolve”. —–Barbara Marx Hubbard
This unconsciousness is what the whole evolution process is about. For the same insensitivity and unawareness parents have toward their children, so too man has toward the environment, land, wildlife, trees, rocks, insects, waters etc. Some of the statements made by clients during this Current Collective Consciousness Theme are “How can you do this to me over and over again?” “How can you knowingly hurt me?” “Why is it always about you and what you want?” “Why are you never there when I need you?” “How do you get away with breaking your promise of keeping me safe on all levels?”
The longing and expectation to be truly secure and safe physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and energetically is automatic and part of the human make up. This ‘expectation’ comes from and through Nature as well. We are the ‘Keepers’ of the wildlife, soil, oceans and air. For it is an exquisitely sensitive and delicate circle that is easily damaged or wounded through the insensitivity and disregard for the intrinsic beingness or sentience of each participant. Then there is this amazing and wonderful step toward a future where that ‘beingness’ is recognized in animals. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/australasia/animals-are-now-legally-recognised-as-sentient-beings-in-new-zealand-10256006.html Next the trees, Land, air, insects- all things.
As individuals we may not be making purposeful decisions to destroy the Amazon or remove regulations that protect the air, water and endangered animals or mining sacred land or demolishing unique ecosystems. But keeping our lawns and yards pristine and magazine photo-like with plants that are not native and removing all the fall leaves or spraying for bugs or countless other ways we each in our own way take for granted the generosity of Nature. As parents take for granted the loving nature of children.
How much are we each contributing to that which we point a finger at, due to our own selfishness or greed? We let the water run when we are brushing our teeth and washing dishes. We don’t take the extra time and effort to remove the tops and rings around the plastic bottles for recycling. We keep buying things and accumulating objects that end up in landfills. We don’t speak out at work or restaurants that use Styrofoam or bring our own containers! We choose to shop or do business with companies that make environmentally harmful choices because it is effortful to do otherwise. This self-interest and greed cannot change out there until it changes in each of us. In our own ways of perpetuating them.
This is not about our parents being terrible people that we should hate and from whom we must distance ourselves. ON THE CONTRARY! We are the microcosm of the macrocosm of evolution! As we transform our individual wounds to incorporate and embody the original pure form of that aspect of our natural innate humanness, Human Nature evolves! We come to individuate from our parents to truly see them, interact and relate to them (and everyone who reminds our child self of them) from a place of true freedom that only maturity and self responsibility can grant. Far beyond any need for forgiveness, instead having appreciation and gratitude to them for assisting us to accomplish what we came for – transforming our unique flavor of the ‘old way’ of humans. The young immature rather primitive, separate, human who must now grow to a place of unity within diversity and inclusiveness of all!
You cannot transcend what you do not know. To go beyond yourself, you must know yourself. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
Each then participating in the world without the fears, needs and expectations of a child that our spouses, partners, friends, bosses, politicians, religious leaders or groups do what is right and treat us/the environment, the way they should. For as we transform, we then know we have the power! We know we control the way we wish to live and we know we are not trapped in any way.
“Every one of us can do something to protect and care for our planet. We have to live in such a way that a future will be possible for our children and our grandchildren and our own life has to be our message.” Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay)
Especially in democratic countries by letting our voices and choices be heard in innumerable ways. https://www.unify.org/climate?fbclid=IwAR2AU9C7lXaYMcKSQicXvNVcR6tAs9WhPk2LpaGObmlZUtmDmHEeTOvZhb8 Whether that is in outward protests like the Climate Strike, or perhaps attending and standing up in our own township meetings. Or most potently through our purchases or boycott of those companies who do not align with the respect, valuing, care, acknowledgement and cherishment of this planet –our home!
This is the battle of our lives, and a race against time. We can win — and we must. Solutions are in our hands: tax pollution, not people; stop subsidizing fossil fuels; stop building new coal plants by 2020; focus on a green economy, not a grey economy. I count on your continued support as we strive to build a world where we can live every day in harmony with the environment and with each other. — UN Secretary-General António Guterres
One of the most powerful ways we can do this is in gathering together in small groups, doing the Energetic or ‘Behind the Scenes’ work for ourselves, individually creating the life we dream about through our own abilities from and through our multi-existences! Please join with others in the upcoming courses of ‘Practical Magic’ (still spaces begins Oct 16th) or “Healing the Healer” or “Earth Stewards”. All starting this Fall! Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing which ever has. Margaret Mead
Here’s what one person shared recently about the Equinox event which was just one evening. Think of the results when you are collaborating with the same people on a regular basis!!!
“The fire ceremony was beautiful in bringing in the energies of the four directions heaven and earth, within, and the Elements. It was a beautiful way of moving into the fall of bounty and death, dissolving of habits, thoughts and limitations transforming them into a beautiful higher and wider versions of who we really are. Walking the labyrinth with each step kissing the earth shedding who we were into becoming what we are. For the first time, I’m starting to feel the power of gathering with others participating in an event that moves and shifts our lives reverberating across the planet and galaxy and back to us in changed form.”
